Xander - a closer look at our reversible Woven
Xander, named after Virginia's beloved American nephew, has become an established and much-loved part of our Woven Collection, and we wanted to take a moment to share the inspiration behind the fabric and how it is often used.
The starting point was a practical one. It was developed for Xander’s room in the Berkshires, to create a room within a larger space, using fully reversible, unlined curtains that would offer privacy while remaining light and airy. The colour palette - Moss, Ocean, Icicle, Spinach and Milk - is drawn from the surrounding landscape, referencing mossy woodland floors, pale skies and deep blue water glimpsed beneath tall, swaying pine trees. A delicate vertical stripe introduces subtle pattern and sheen, adding interest without dominating a space and allowing the fabric to work harmoniously alongside other designs in the Collection.
Woven in England from 55% RWS wool and 45% cotton, Xander offers a reassuring sense of depth without heaviness. It sits comfortably between a sheer and a standard woven, providing presence while remaining soft and fluid. Xander is ideal for curtains and cushions and works particularly well unlined and when seen from both sides.
If you’d like to discuss using Xander in a project, we’d be delighted to help.
