Reeds - a closer look at our Woven fabric

Reeds was developed as a Woven counterpart to our much loved hand printed linen, bringing added depth and movement to the design.

By translating the pattern into weave, each glade takes on a more varied structure, with subtle shifts in direction and texture that catch the light. The result is a fabric that feels layered and quietly dynamic, while remaining easy to use within an interior.

The design was created by Alexandra Palmowski, inspired by Virginia’s time spent in the Highlands of Scotland.

Walks around Loch Garten, often with Moss, revealed a landscape of soft, shifting colour. Woodland in muted blues and browns reflected in still water, with reeds at the edge in constant motion. This gentle rhythm runs through the design.

There is also a connection to art, particularly the work of Howard Hodgkin.

His use of colour and layered brushwork resonates with the way Reeds builds tone and depth through weave. Above, our Irish Sofa in Two Parts is upholstered in Reeds Woodland and sits beneath Hodgkin’s Venice Evening.

Reeds is woven in England with one of the country’s oldest family run mills, using a blend of linen, wool and flax.

This gives the fabric a reassuring weight while maintaining softness and flexibility. It is well suited to upholstery, thick curtains and cushions.

Reeds Grape introduces a richer tone, shown above on the Klismos Day Bed.

Reeds Rose offers a warmer palette.
